Anna Kendrick Heads to Small Screen with HBO Max ‘Love Life’

“Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick is leading and executive producing an upcoming series on the new streaming platform HBO Max. “Love Live” is billed as a romantic comedy anthology with director and writer Paul Feig also attached.

“Love Life” will follow different stories where the quest for love is the main theme. Each episode, which will run for a half-hour, will focus on a particular relationship. The show will have 10 episodes.

“Love Life,” created by Sam Boyd, is “about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are when we finally end up with someone forever,” per the press release.

Joining Kendrick in “Love Life” are Scotty McNairy (“Narcos: Mexico”) as the arrogant Bradley, the successful businessman who fancies Darby, Kendrick’s character who runs a tour bus company. Also cast in the show are Sasha Compere (“Miracle Workers”), Zoe Chao (“Strangers”) and Peter Vack (“The Bold Type”), per Variety.

Compere is going to Darby’s roommate, Mallory. The character is quite outspoken, funny and upfront about the opinions that Darby needs to hear. Chao will play the outgoing and wild Sara, who has been friends with Darby for many years and she is in a relationship with Jack.

Vack plays Jack, an easygoing person who works for a politician. Darby has been aspiring for the kind of relationship between Sara and Jack, but the couple also has problematic issues to deal with in private.

Kendrick and Feig have worked before on the movie “A Simple Favor” in 2018. This series will be the first full show for Kendrick on the small screen. She has previously guest-starred in the canceled drama “Viva Laughlin.” The actress is an Oscar-nominated star who is also known movies like “Up in the Air,” and “The Accountant.”

“Love Life” is set to launch in 2020, as part of HBO Max’s pioneering shows. HBO Max is in partnership with Warner Bros.
