Boxing, karate champs at TOPS Usapang Sports

Boxing and karate, two sports which brought countless honors to the country, make up for an interesting discussion in the 34th “Usapang Sports” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) at the National Press Club in Intramuros.

Boxing idol Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo will discuss his coming title fight against Thai veteran Panya Uthok for the WBC Asia featherweight championship at the Bohol Wisdom School gym in Tagbilaran City on Aug. 31.

Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation, Inc. president Richard Lim will also talk about the Filipinos’ success in the recent 39th Karatedo Gojukai Int’l Championship 2019 in Singapore as well as the coming 7th Karatedo Goju-kai Asia Pacific Championship in Lapu-Lapu City, on Sept. 27- Oct. 1.

Accompanying Magsayo in the 10 a.m. public service program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, National Press Club, PAGCOR, Community Basketball Association and HG Guyabano Tea Leaf Drinks is his manager-wife France.

Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Boxing and other Contact Sports officer-in-charge Jackie Lou Cacho will also attend the forum shown live on Facebook via Glitter Livestream.

Cacho will give an update on the recent GAB consultative meeting/dialogue with boxing stakeholders at the GAB office in Makati last July 31.

This will actually be the second fight in five months for the 24-year-old pride of Tagbilaran, Bohol, who made a successful return with a knockout victory over Erick Deztroyer in Singapore last April.

Magsayo holds a perfect 19-0 record, including 14 by KOs.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members of TOPS, as well as friends in the sports community to attend the session shown on Facebook live via Glitter Livestream.

TOPS is composed of editors, reporters, columnists and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids.
