It looks like Arwind Santos’ prediction for the San Miguel Beermen is a win away from coming into fruition.
After beating the no. 2 Northport Batang Pier in the quarter-finals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, 98-84 to force a do-or-die rubber match, the Beermen have moved one victory away from the semi-finals.
It could be recalled that Santos went on the record and said he would want the Beermen, who were struggling at that time in the elimination round, to finish with the 8th seed and beat a higher-seeded squad twice.
The Beermen have fallen right into a familiar situation, getting only the 7th seed and a twice-to-win disadvantage although negating the handicap right away.
And Santos is confident his team can get the job done.
“Kung ganito ulit mangyayari sa Wednesday, malamang makukuha namin ‘to,” said Santos.
“Hihimayin pa namin yung mga viewings namin para malaman namin saan kami kukuha ng puntos, maka-adjust, at maging pulido. Kailangan mag-doble (effort) kasi siguradong babalik sila nang malakas sa Wednesday.”
