FEU emerges as 25th Fr. Martin’s Cup champions

NU dominates women’s division

Royce Alforque hit a lay-up with 23 seconds left as the FEU Tamaraws nipped the Adamson Falcons, 69-67 to win the seniors championship of the 25th Fr. Martin’s Cup Summer League Presented by Resorts World Manila, Bedans 62-66, and Cocolife.

RJ Abarrientos showcased an all-around game, scoring 23 points while also finishing with 5 assists including a set-up to Alforque in the final moments of the game.

After Joshua Yerro missed under the final minute of regulation, Alforque was able to give the lead to the Morayta-based squad.

Adamson had one last chance at the buzzer but JL Capulong’s heave went off the mark.

In the women’s division final, the National University Lady Bulldogs asserted their dominance as the best women’s basketball team in the country by walking away with a 68-38 demolition of the UST Tigresses.

UAAP women’s MVP Jack Danielle Animam topscored for the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. Monique Del Carmen chipped in 12 markers.

UST was held without the field goal in the second quarter, and the merciless Lady Bulldogs took control in the first half, 36-15.

In the juniors division title match, the Arellano Braves overcame a 7-point deficit in the payoff period to stun many-time NCAA juniors champion San Beda, 52-50 and win the crown.

Felix Villarente hit the dagger triple with 3.5 seconds remaining to complete Arellano’s upset. He scored all of his 8 points in the fourth, including 2 triples.

JD Nepomuceno had 14 points to lead Arsllano while Ivann Salinel added 7 markers.

Justine Sanchez led the Red Cubs with 11 while Rhayyan Amsali added 9 points, although missed a potential game-tying lay-up towards the end that would have sent the game to overtime.
