The 3×3 squads of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas wounded up an unfruitful stint in the 3×3 Tinkoff Moscow Challenger last Saturday in Russia.
Chooks Pasig, bannered by the duo of Joshua Munzon and Taylor Statham together with Dylan Ababou and Nikola Pavlovic faltered in their pool stage games to Belgian side Antwerp, 14-21, and Latvian squad Riga Ghetto 17-21.
Against Riga, Munzon and Statham led the Philippine side to a 4-0 start. It turned out to be a heated encounter, with Statham being slapped an unsportsmanlike foul while Munzon a technical.
Riga raced to a 20-17 lead and closed out the game with a free throw.
Interestingly, Pasig also came up empty-handed in the Kunshan Challenger in China last May.
Meanwhile, Chooks Balanga, composed of Alvin Pasaol, Karl Dehesa, Travis Franklin, and Chris de Chavez, came up short in their quest to make the pool stages of the event.
Chooks Balanga defeated Ukrainian group Odessa Basket easily, 21-9 to kickstart their campaign.
However, they lost to the home side Moscow in their other match, 21-14, failing to make it into the tournament proper.
