Batman Prequel ‘Pennyworth’ to Premiere on Epix This July [VIDEO]

The Batman prequel series “Pennyworth” has been confirmed for release on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 9:00 p.m. on Epix. The series, set for 10 episodes, will tackle the young life of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth (played by Jack Bannon).

Before he served and helped Bruce Wayne became Batman, Pennyworth was a former British SAS soldier. The series will delve on his time as a twenty-something man in 1960s London, where he worked in a security company. Here, Pennyworth would meet a young Thomas Wayne, who would later have a child named Bruce.

Epix released a new teaser and the press release announcing the series’ debut.

New York, NY – April 24, 2019 – Premium network EPIX announced today that PENNYWORTH will premiere on July 28th at 9 PM ET/PT, 8 C, and also released a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated series. The 10-episode, hour-long drama series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.

In addition to Jack Bannon (The Imitation Game, Ripper Street) and Ben Aldridge (Our Girl, Fleabag), cast members include multi-award-winning recording artist Paloma Faith, Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Polly Walker (The Mentalist, Rome) and Emma Corrin (The Crown).

Pennyworth is from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (Gotham, The Mentalist, Rome) and executive producer/director Danny Cannon (Gotham, CSI series). Production on the series is currently underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, in the UK; Pennyworth is the first television series to film at Leavesden.
