YFL kicks of third season with mini tourney

Children and their parents alike were in for a treat as the Speed Regalo Youth Football League kicked off its third calendar season by first holding a mini-tournament festival on Sunday, March 10 at the Alabang Country Club.

Tournament director Joseph Gensaya led the awards event as trophies and medals were all given away to each age bracket’s top teams after the games.

In the U7 division, Kaya emerged as the division’s best team by posting clean sheets against teams like G8, Loyola, and Aspire. Patrick Barnes was dubbed as the Most Valuable Player for the squad.

In the U9 division, it was G8 from Group A who was cited as the age bracket’s best team with impressive victories over Kaya Yellow, Ceres South, Atletico Diliman, and Aspire A. Leon Smeets was named as G8’s MVP for the festival.

Malaya made a strong impression in the mini-tournament as they were named as the U11’s best team. Save for their draw against G8, they were able to win against Apuesto Bueno, Kaya Yellow, and Forza. Kenneth Dela Cruz earned for himself a Most Valuable Player award for his great effort.

For the U13 bracket, Kaya Black was able to come out on top as they have swept Ceres North, G8, and Loyola in Group A. Sven Dunder was the team’s Most Valuable Player.
