The fighter nicknamed “Mulawin” is ready to spread his wings once more.

John Vincent Moralde of the Sanman Boxing Gym is already in Los Angeles, California to start a month-long, hard training at the famed Wildcard Gym.

Moralde is gearing up for his showdown with 2012 London Olympian Jamel Herring on September 14 at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.

At stake in the fight is the vacant IBF USBA super featherweight title.

“I did my light training at Sanman Gym. Now I have one month for my hard training in Los Angeles with coach Rodel Mayol,” said Moralde.

Moralde saw his career get back on track following a mammoth win last May 26 at the abovementioned venue where he scored a unanimous win over the erstwhile unbeaten Ismael Muwendo.

The victory upped Moralde’s record to 20W-1L-0D, 10KOs. More importantly, the victory boosted the morale of Moralde after suffering a technical knockout loss to Toka Kahn Clary before his triumphant outing against Muwendo.

“I feel good and I will be 100 percent ready against Herring,” he said.

Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil said the one-month preparation is highly needed by Moralde as a victory will open a lot of opportunities for the orthodox fighter.

“Moralde has more than a month to acclimatize in the USA and he will surely have a good camp with coach Rodel Mayol. This is an important fight for Moralde a win can lead him to a world title shot,” said Manangquil.

Indeed, Moralde needs all the preparation that he can get as he will be up against a fighter, who has only lost twice in 19 fights.

Ten of Herring’s victories were by knockouts.
