Heavy rains, flood force MPBL to postpone Saturday games

FOR the second time this season, games of the MPBL Datu Cup had been reset due to heavy rains and flood in the metropolis.

On Saturday, the MPBL Commissioner’s Office decided to postpone the scheduled double header at the Valenzuela Astrodome as teams competing for the night were stranded on their way to the venue.

Set to play were crack teams San Juan and Mandaluyong, which were scheduled to play at 7 p.m. and Valenzuela supposed to meet Gen San at 9 p.m.

Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes said teams were stranded on their way to the venue, forcing them to cancel the games and reset it to a latter date.

“Safety of our players and team members are given utmost importance,” said Duremdes. “Most of them were stranded on their way here and the roads leading to the Valenzuela Astrodome were not passable.”

The league has rescheduled the double header at the latter part of the elimination round.
