An NBA trade rumor involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat that started several days ago remains up in the air. The deal reportedly involves Jordan Clarkson, Kyle Korver and Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Hassan Whiteside of the Miami

However, the latest on the alleged trade deal could be tweaked a bit. The Heat will reportedly include either Dion Waiters or James Johsnon to join Whiteside, a move that can somehow balance the potential exchange according Frankie M. Ross on Twitter.

A key thing here to note is that none of the players are exactly on the all-star level except perhaps for Kyle Korver who is in the twilight of his career. Whiteside, Clarkson and Thompson are on the rise but apparently need more tweaking.

Whiteside’s rise to fame suffered a road block, particularly last season. The shot-blocking demon dealt with injuries although he still managed to average a double-double with 14.0 points and 11.4 rebounds per game according to Cavs Nation.

As for the Cavs, the deal hardly comes as a surprise. With the departure of LeBron James, Cleveland is rebuilding and placing key pieces together. Clarkson and Thompson are key pieces although there is no denying that a healthy Whiteside is too good to pass up.

Related to the move is the planned addition of Clarkson to the Philippine National team. The Fil-American needed the approval of his mother team and the NBA to participate at both the 2018 Asian Games and the FIBA World Qualifiers.

According to a report from the Manila Bulletin, the NBA failed to approve Clarkson’s stint thus hindering his participation in Indonesia. It would have been the final piece since the Asian Games organizers in Indonesia had already given the Philippines the go-signal to field Clarkson. Photo by Disney | ABC Television Group
