THE sport of chess is very much alive in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The much awaited Hon. BM Alfredo B. de Veyra III Cup Tatluhan Mindanao Rapid Chess Championship gets underway on July 22, 2018 at 11 am at the Robinsons Place in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

The participants of the tournaments are set to compete in a Swiss System format and the event is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Fide National Arbiter (FNA) Joseph Gener “Jojo” Palero said required average rating for the rapid team event must be 2050 based on April 1, 2018 NCFP Rating list while underated players will be given a 1800 provisional rating.

The winning team is set to receive P60,000 and a trophy while the next four winners will pocket P30,000, P20,000, P10,0000 and P5,000 plus trophies, respectively.

6th to 10th placers will get P4,000 each while11th to 15th placers awaits P3,000 each. The kiddies team champion will also take home P3,000 plus trophy while kiddies team runner-up place didn’t go home empty-handed with P2,000.

“All players are required to bring Valid ID.The tournament director reserves the right to deny entry to any team without any reason,” according to the organizing committee.
