Following its unexpected cancellation on ABC, Tim Allen’s comedy series “Last Man Standing” is looking for a new network. The show was supposed to move on to ABC for a seventh season when the Disney-owned channel pulled the plug. Fans accused the network the cancellation was for a political reason.

Tim Allen expressed on Twitter his show was blindsided. The comedian and his fans believed “Last Man Standing” was axed because of the actor’s Republican leanings, which reflected on the series. Allen himself expressed support for President Donald Trump.

Fans of the show also pointed out it had decent ratings, which made the cancellation even more puzzling. Many have launched petitions to bring the series back on air, especially since the show “appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify.”

“We really were expecting a pickup. The fact that we didn’t get a pickup was a surprise and a disappointment,” executive producer Howart Kurtzman said, as per TV Guide. “I think no one was more disappointed than Tim Allen, such a huge star with such a huge following.”

Kurtzman added they are exploring options, including a network transfer. “If it’s not going to go forward at ABC, of course Jonnie and I are hopeful that we can find another home for it.”

ABC chief Channing Dungey, however, denied politics had something to do with the decision to end “Last Man Standing” with six seasons. “I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled The Real O’Neals, Dr. Ken, The Catch and American Crime,” the chief said, as per CNN.

“Last Man Standing” also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller and Hector Elizondo.
