The spinoff to “How I Met Your Mother” might still get its airtime even after CBS decided to pass on its development in 2014. The series will come from Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who have worked as writers for this season’s top series “This Is Us.”

“How I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will only be working as executive producers for the spinoff. The plan is to introduce a new set of characters with a new story. However, it will still follow the framework of the main character meeting a life-long partner.

“How I Met Your Mother” spinoff has no official title just yet. In the past, it was supposed to be called “How I Met Your Father” and Greta Gerwig was set to play the lead role.

The latest development has not network attached yet. But if development goes well, it will be set for fall 2017. Some say that the show might end up in CBS All Access, the streaming platform for CBS.

“How I Met Your Mother” ran fro 2005 until 2014. It starred Neil Patrick Haris, Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel and Christina Millioti.
