‘FPI Strongly Supports Doe’s Stand On Coal-Fired Power Plants’

The Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI), which is composed of Industry Associations and Corporations engaged in the manufacture of various materials and products, is in full support of the recent declaration of the Secretary of Energy Alfonso Cusi, – that coal-fired power plant will remain a permanent fixture as this will help the Philippines rapidly meets its growing energy needs cost efficiently.

It will be recalled that this is also the consistent stand of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during the presidential campaign and even up to the present because this is needed for the development and industrialization of the country. FPI Chairman Dr. Jesus Lim Arranza shared that the Federation from the outset has similarly and emphatically manifested the need of the coal-fired power plant as this will served as the most reliable baseload that will readily secure the stable power source not only for the manufacturing sector but of the consuming public as well.

With this declaration, the manufacturing sector will have a peace of mind as this will serve as a strong signal for new investments as well as pending expansions in the pipeline to proceed knowing fully well that it will be secured by a stable power source, Chairman Arranza added.
