After a Donald Trump win in the presidency, Oprah Winfrey expressed hope for the new government. She urged her fellow Americans to “take a deep breath” and seemingly suggested to give the incoming president a chance. But her remark was only met with criticisms and attacks from fellow celebrities on social media.

Oprah Winfrey, who supported the Democrats and Hillary Clinton, said that she has found new hope after the elections. Posting a photo of Donald Trump meeting President Barak Obama on her Twitter, the former talk show queen said she feels encouraged.

“I just saw President-elect Trump with President Obama in the White House and it gave me hope,” she told Entertainment Tonight . “To hear President-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obama, it felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience.”

But as soon as Oprah made her comments, she swarmed by critics on Twitter including celebrities like Patton Oswalt and Heather Matarazzo, The Hollywood Reporter cites. Since the results of the election was revealed, countless of protests across America has been mounted by disappointed Americans who profess they will not recognize Donald Trump as their president.
