‘Supergirl’ Turns Mehcad Brooks’ Jimmy Olsen Into The Masked Hero ‘Guardian’

Mehcad Brooks is going to become another superhero. On “Supergirl,” where the actor plays Jimmy Olsen, he will be donning a mask and suit, and will be fighting crime as the Guardian.

“Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that Jimmy Olsen is stepping up in Season 2 because he’s tired of just sitting down as Supergirl/Kara Danvers saves the Earth. “He’s going to become Guardian, complete with the shield, which is going to cause a massive problem in his relationship with Kara (Melissa Benoist) because he has decided not to tell her,” Kreiserg said, TV Line reports. The only person who knows his vigilante identity is Winn (Jeremy Jordan) and with both of them working together to help Supergirl fight crime (without her knowledge), it’s going to be both a hit and a miss.

During the premiere of “Supergirl” Season 2 this week, Kara Danvers and Jimmy Olsen were supposed to begin a new chapter in their friendship. When they couldn’t get their first date right, Kara realizes that she has hesitations. Overwhelmed by the things in her life as Supergirl, she decided it would be best for them to just stay friends. Jimmy Olsen choosing to become a vigilante is a way for him to process his feelings for Kara. “It becomes sort of a push and pull about who gets to decide who gets to be a hero.”

“Supergirl” airs every Mondays at 8:00 on The CW. The show has earned a stellar rating when it premiered this week and viewers  are also looking forward to see Lynda Carter in the series next.
