Michelle Dockery is moving on from “Downtown Abbey” to star in a Netflix western. The upcoming drama, “Godless” will be produced by Steven Soderbergh and it is set to run in 2017 on the streaming site.

Deadline reports that Dockery will join Jeff Daniels and Jack O’Connell, who were already announced for the period drama in the past months. The Emmy-nominated actress is tasked to play Alice Fletcher, who owns a ranch in La Belle, N.M., where a fugitive hides. The fugitive is Frank Griffin (played by Jeff Daniels). Roy Good (played by Jack O’Connell) is tasked to hunt him down. What should be interesting is that La Belle is only inhabited by women.

Before “Godless” airs on Netflix, Michelle Dockery will be seen in another drama series, “Good Behavior,” from TNT. The show is expected to premiere on the cable channel in the fall. In “Good Behavior,” Dockery plays an alcoholic who also works as a cop, per Den of Geek.

“Godless” will be written and directed by Scott Frank, who also serves as executive producer with Soderbergh. The show was first announced as in development back in March. It is not yet known when filming for the miniseries will start, but it is part of Netflix’s 2017 slate.
