‘Code Black’ Enlist Rob Lowe As Cast Shakeup Happens In Season 2

While “Code Black” is losing two of its cast members from Season 1, the show has added more  actors for its second season, including Rob Lowe. The actor, whose last series, “The Grinder,” was cancelled on Fox, is joining the CBS medical series in the fall. He’s playing a former military doctor in “Code Black” Season 2.

Per The Hollywood Reporter,  Rob Lowe will play Col. Ethan Willis, who has come from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. While there, he word in the combat casualty research program and will be teaching the staff off the Angeles Memorial on combat medicine. As a military man, Willis is quite aggressive at work, but he will reportedly have good rapport with Dr. Leanne Rorish, played by Marcia Gay Harden.

Rob Lowe has in fact started shooting on “Code Black.” Co-star Ben Hollingsworth shared a photo of the new doctor on the set via Twitter.

The addition of Rob Lowe comes as “Code Black” Season 2 is making some changes to the show. Earlier, producers confirmed that actors Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey will no longer return for the new season.

Aside from Rob Lowe, “Code Black” Season 2 also added three new characters at the fictional emergency hospital: Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Tyra and Nafessa Williams.

The series will return on CBS on Sept. 28 at 10 p.m.
