First ‘Chibo Okonomiyaki’ branch opens in PH

Chibo Okonomiyaki, a staple local restaurant in Japan, officially opened its first restaurant in the Philippines on June 15, 2016 at the second floor of S Maison, Conrad Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

During a media preview on June 13, guests were treated with a selection of Chibo’s renowned specialty dishes. David Guevarra, Chibo Okonomiyaki Philippines’ country manager, and Kenji Yomuro, the man responsible for bringing the restaurant in the Philippines, were also there duting the media preview.

Chibo Okonomiyaki is a restaurant founded in 1973 at Sennichimae, which is a district in Osaka, Japan that is popular for its gourmet eateries. The name of the restaurant, Chibo, came from a mark in the flag of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a formidable Japanese war lord during the 16th century who commanded building the famous Osaka Castle.

Chibo is regarded in Japan as the king of all Okonomiyaki restaurant, and it is proud to bring its popular delicacies to the Philippines for the first time.

The Japanese restaurant already has 63 local stores all over Japan, and with the steady growth of their business in their country, Chibo Okonomiyaki plans to expand their brand worldwide. They already opened a branch in Hawaii, and they are now bringing the taste of Osaka’s famed Okonomiyaki in the Philippines.
