‘Hey, Arnold!’ Movie Is Happening On Nickelodeon; Might Finally Answer What Really Happened To Arnold’s Parents

Nickelodeon has finally confirmed that it is pushing forward with the “Hey, Arnold!” movie. Entitled “Hey, Arnold! The Jungle Movie,” the presentation will run as a special on the cable channel.

The cartoon series’ original cast members are going to take part including Lane Toran, who voiced Arnold and Jamil Smith, who voiced Gerald. Howevr, because the actors are now grown-up, they will be taking part in different roles.

The new voices of best friends Arnold and Gerald will be Mason Vale Cotton and Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores, Jr per Entertainment Weekly. But the rest of the cast members will return to provide the voices to their original characters:

Justin Shenkarow as Harold
Olivia Hack as Rhonda
Nika Futterman as Olga
Dan Butler as Mr. Simmons
Dan Castellaneta as Grandpa

Alfred Molina will also be in the cast as the voice of Lasombra, the villain. The show will also be introducing new characters.

“Hey, Arnold!” was a favorite on the Nickelodeon channel from 1996 to 2004. The show did have a movie version in 2002, but this time, the planned movie will be taking two hours of airtime on the TV network. It is expected to air in 2017 and might finally answer the question to what really happened to Arnold’s parents.

Planning the “Hey, Arnold!” movie was first announced in 2015. It comes just as the network is celebrating a milestone 25 years in creating original animations.
