Cavaliers try to even up series with Warriors

The Cleveland Cavaliers try to pull abreast with the defending champion Golden State Warriors as both teams square off for game 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

The Cavs got back on the winning track after routing the Warriors at the Q Arena after two blowout losses at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are expected to lead the pack once more before the series shifts back to the Warriors turf.

Unlike the first two games, the Cavs got plenty of help from the bench. JR Smith, Tristan Thompson and Richard Jefferson chipped in while the Warriors simply struggled.

The Cavs will enjoy the home court advantage once more though Cavs coach Tyronn Lue is not expected to rely on that favor. The Warriors are unpredictable and once Steph Curry and/or Klay Thompson get into their grooves, that advantage can be easily wiped out in just one quarter.

With that in mind, there is still pressure for the Cavs to pull off something big if they are to equalize the series. A loss will be a big backbreaker for James and company with the Warriors having the luxury of possibly wrapping it all up in game 5 with a big win at the Q Arena.

A big question for the Cavs is the status of Kevin Love. Love was not around in game 3 as he was in the NBA’s concussion protocol. Jefferson stepped up to start in his place and the veteran made a good account of himself.

Love will likely be cleared to return for game 4 but may come off the bench. With Jefferson proving his worth in game 3, Lue is likely to stick to that formula at least for the time being.

Cleveland is a 2-point home favorite per vegasinsiders.com, not much of a surprise though the Warriors can easily fend off those odds.
