The current best-selling video game, “Tom Clancy’s: The Division,” is reportedly getting a big screen treatment with no less than Jake Gyllenhaal in the leading role. Ubisoft Motion Pictures is producing the movie, but other details, such as the writer and director, are still not confirmed.

“The Division” has over 10 million players and have amassed over $330 million in sales during its first week of release. The game, described as a military tactical role playing adventure , is available for playing on the PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows for the PC.

The story of “The Division” is set in a dystopian future in New York City, where a virus outbreak has happened. Gamers are supposed to build the operation of the division, while they fight criminals who have been wreaking havoc when the pandemic struck.

Aside from leading in the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal is supposed to work behind the scenes as producer. This is not the first time the actor has ventured into video games for the silver screen as he has starred in “Prince of Persia” in 2010, per Variety.

Video games turned movies have been the trend of late with the expected releases of “Assassin’s Creed” featuring Michael Fassbender and “Splinter Cell,” with Tom Hardy. Both movies are also from Ubisoft.

“We created Ubisoft Motion Pictures in a way where we wanted to have a big involvement in the movie, and what we have done for Assassin’s we will do for all the other movies, which is that at the beginning we started by choosing our actor,” per the gaming company in announcing the coming of “The Division” to the big screen, per Hacker.
