‘Frozen’ Star Idina Menzel Approves A Girlfriend For Elsa For The Sequel

frozenIdina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in the movie “Frozen,” is aboard the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign that’s going around social media. Fans are asking Disney to let the Queen of Arendelle be involved in a same-sex relationship when the movie returns for its second offering and this has caused some controversy between liberals and conservatives.

But Idina Menzel said that she thinks the fan petition is a great idea and she won’t oppose if Disney does give in to the request. “No matter what, [Elsa] changed my life,” the singer and actress said, per Entertainment Weekly. The campaign sparked on Twitter a few months back when a writer stated that,  “We’ve never been able to see the purity in a queer relationship,” said Alexis Moncada, per Yahoo.

The sequel to the animated hit is set to be in theaters in 2018, but details to what “Frozen 2” will be about has not been revealed.  Fans do have a lot of speculations about the follow up, including the fact that Anna and Elsa could be related to other Disney characters.

Kristen Bell, who is the voice of Anna, confirmed that the script to “Frozen 2” was written a long time ago, but there are some tweaks to it.  “What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn’t just put something out to put it out. That’s why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one,” the actress said, per  Collider.
