Vanessa Hudgens Joins DC Comics TV Series ‘Powerless’

After her successful stint playing Rizzo in the TV musical “Grease: Live” on Fox, Vanessa Hudgens is headlining a comedy series next.

The actress will lead “Powerless,” a superhero-themed series from creator Ben Queen. The movie is based on a comic book series from DC featuring workers in an insurance company in a world were being a superhero is the norm.

Hudgens’ role will be that of Emily Locke, who is an insurance claims adjuster who doesn’t really enjoy being around superheroes in the city.

This will be the actress’ first major TV role after doing “Grease: Live” for Fox in January, where her performance was lauded by both critics and viewers. The actress had to deal with a family crisis hours before the presentation as her father succumb to stage 4 cancer.

Meanwhile, “Powerless” is set to run on NBC next season if it passes pilot development.
