Fifth_generation_Camaro_SS,_Transformers_editionParamount Pictures reveals that the next “Transformers” movie will be coming in 2018. The sixth installment will be a Bumblebee spinoff.

“There are characters in the ‘Transformers’ universe that can be and should be made into their own movies,” said Paramount executive Brad Grey via The Hollywood Reporter. “We will make the first movie with Michael and go right into a Bumblebee movie, which will be at a lower cost.”

Paramount is still set to work with Michael Bay for “Transformers 5,” which has a 2017 theater date. Then a stand-alone “Transformers” movie is also being planned for release in 2019.

Entertainment Weekly  reports that the three movie were discussed with Hasbro investors last week following rumors of a spinoff. Paramount and Hasbro executives have enlisted writers Robert Kirkman and Steven DeKnight to field ideas for the coming “Transformers” movie. The companies entered into an agreement in creating a movie universe in 2005.

“We’ve brought in a pretty strong writing staff run by Akiva Goldsman, and they have put together eight or nine interesting stories,” Grey confirmed.
