462px-Kristen_Bell_at_the_2008_Tribeca_Film_FestivalFans of “iZombie” are receiving a belated Christmas gift as it was announced Tuesday that “Veronica Mars” actress Kristen Bell is going to guest star in the Rob Thomas series.

Thomas, the creator of both shows, has finally made it happen and Entertainment Weekly  just confirmed that Bell is going to be in the Jan. 26 episode of “iZombie.”

Entitled “Fifty Shades of Grey Matter,” Rose McIver’s Liv, “iZombie’s” lead character, will be investigating the murder of a librarian, who also happened to be an erotic fiction writer. McIver confirmed Bell’s participation by telling fans Bell will provide the voice-over to the episode. In regular episodes, it’s McIver who usually does the narrations.

“iZombie” has hinted about “Veronica Mars” in a past episode, when Liv once uttered the lines “A long time ago, we used to be friends.” These are the very same lines to the lyrics of the theme song for “Veronica Mars.”

“iZombie” is about a young medical investigator for the police force who mysteriously got infected by a zombie virus. Struggling to go about life as a normal person, she helps the police in their cases by eating the brains of the murder victims. It keeps her from turning, but she also gets visions of the last moments of the victims.

“iZombie” returns to The CW after its holiday hiatus Jan. 12. The show is currently on its second season.
