The comic book series was published from 1995 to 2000 and centers on Jesse Custer, a preacher from Texas small town who comes across a supernatural known as Genesis. Genesis has both angel and demon qualities. Jesse thinks he’s on a new mission to track down God, along with Tulip, his former girlfriend, and Cassidy, a vampire.

The comic book is from Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon and Catlin. Catlin will also serve as the showrunner for the series.

“Preacher’s” pilot episode was filmed during the summer, after AMC gave it a go last December.
