Showtime Teases New Series ‘Billions’ Starring Damian Lewis from ‘Homeland’

Damian Lewis“Homeland” actor Damian Lewis is returning to television with a new series. Alongside Oscar-nominated actor Paul Giamatti, they will appear in the Showtime series “Billions.”

The show is described as a “21st-century examination of the profit and peril of chasing the American dream” and will feature Giamatti as a hard-hittng U.S. Attorney named Chuck Rhoades. Lewis will play hedge-fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod who becomes the target for the attorney.

The show also stars Malin Akerman, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Toby Leonard Moore and Condola Rashad.

The pilot episode was directed y Niel Burger (“Divergent”), who is also the show’s executive producer. It is being written by  Brian Koppelman and David Levien (“Ocean’s Thirteen”) and Andrew Ross Sorkin.

Full production of the series 12 episodes has yet to begin in New York,  but here’s a teaser of the pilot, which has already been shot earlier.

The show is set to debut on Showtime in its 2016 program slate.
