Daniel Craig has undergone surgery on his knee.

The 47-year-old actor sustained the injury while filming scenes for the latest James Bond movie ‘Spectre’, and it’s been confirmed he used a scheduled break to undergo the “minor procedure” in New York.

A spokesperson denied the actor missed any filming to have the operation, saying: “During a scheduled break, Daniel Craig had arthroscopic surgery to repair his knee injury. He will rejoin production on April 22nd at Pinewood [Studios].”

Craig’s knee problems occurred on set and are apparently the result of his intense approach to the film’s action scenes.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “His body has taken a hell of a battering while filming Bond, because he really throws himself wholeheartedly into a very demanding part.

“He took the opportunity to have this surgery done while there was a chance to film scenes in which he was not needed.

“He expects to be back to meet his schedule and we are confident he will be fully fit again and there will be no delays.”

The Sam Mendes-directed ‘Spectre’ will mark the actor’s fourth appearance as Bond and is scheduled for release in November 2015.
