Watch: ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ Teaser

STARZ has released the first teaser to the upcoming television revival of the “Evil Dead” franchise. Produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, who are also very same people behind the original films, the show will run for 10 half-hour episodes on the cable channel later this year.

Campbell is reprising his iconic role as Ash Williams. He’s now an “aging lothario” but remains a hunter of monsters. He still uses his chainsaw too. In the TV series, as mankind is left to deal with the Deadite plague, Ash is “forced to face his demons,” as stated in the press release.

The show will also have Lucy Lawless (“Xena the Warrior Princess”) playing the role of Ruby, who blames Ash for the outbreak; Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda, a state trooper who has to track down Ash; Ray Santiago (“Meet the Fockers”) as Pablo, an immigrant and Ash’s sidekick; Dana DeLorenzo (“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas”) as Kelly, a wild child with a sordid past.

Sam Raimi directed the pilot episode, which he co-wrote with his brother Ivan, Craig DiGregorio and Tom Spezialy. Production for the rest of the series is expected to start anytime soon and the cast and crew will be filming in New Zealand.
