Andy Samberg is Hosting 2015 Emmy

463px-Andy-Samberg-David-Shankbone-2010-NYC-791x1024Andy Samberg, the star of “Brooklyn Nine Nine” on Fox, has been picked to host the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, which will air on the network on Sept. 20, 2015. Read on for the details.

Fox’s network executives confirmed the news in a statement published today on various news outlets. The “Saturday Night Live” alum is described by his boss as “fearless, hilarious, an award-winning comedian, singer, writer and actor with incredible live TV experience.”

Himself an Emmy winner during his SNL days, Samberg follows the hosting stint after Seth Meyers who hosted the event last year. Meyers, like Samberg is also an SNL alum and currently hosts “The Late Show” on NBC.

“Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts,” chimed Samberg after his hosting gig was announced.

The actor, who plays Brooklyn detective Jake Peralta on his comedy series, is also working on a new projects wth Fox. Along with with his production partners in Lonely Island, Samberg will produce a sitcom starrying Danny Pudi (“Community”) and a mockumentary hosted by Neal Brennan.

The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 16, 2015.
